Made Right with Jesus
January 18, 2025
As a church committed to praying for one another, we post this daily reminder we can all use for that purpose. It contains a link to the “Our Daily Bread” devotional and a prayer inspired by the passage on which today’s devotion is based. We hope you will find both helpful. We also encourage you to read the “Bible in a Year” passages so that by the end of this year you will have read the entire Bible.
Today’s Our Daily Bread is Made Right with Jesus
Considering 2 Corinthians 5:21-6:2, we know our words can never adequately express the thanksgiving and praise You deserve, Heavenly Father, for reconciling us, as hopeless sinners, to Yourself by laying the penalty for our sins on Your perfect, pristinely sinless, thoroughly holy Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. There is nothing we can say to thank You that doesn’t sound paltry compared to the sacrifice for which we are thanking You. We are reminded that Your saving grace that You lavished on us at the exact time of Your favor to meet our need for forgiveness, is the very same saving grace we need every moment of every day. While we appreciate Your grace in the past, and anticipate it in the future, we realize it is only in the moment that we can appropriate it. Rather than receiving Your grace vain, may we seize every opportunity to avail ourselves of the purpose thereof to teach us to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the appearing of the glory of Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for Himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good, to the praise of His glory as the One in Whose Name we pray. Amen.
Bible in a year: Genesis 43-45; Matthew 12:24-50
