Beauty in Place of Soil

Beauty in Place of Soil

May 26, 2024

As a church committed to praying for one another, we post this daily reminder we can all use for that purpose.  It contains links to a Bible reading that if followed daily will have taken you through the entire Bible by this time next year, devotional thoughts from Our Daily Bread, and the passage upon which those thoughts are based, with a prayer inspired by that passage.  We hope you will find it helpful!

Bible in a Year: 1 Chronicles 28-29; John 9:24-41

Today’s Our Daily Bread: Beauty in Place of Soil | Our Daily Bread (odb.org)

Devotional Passage: Isaiah 61:1-3

Prayer: We recognize today’s passage as that from which You read in the synagogue at Nazareth, Lord Jesus, to announce Your ministry.  We worship You as the One , the only One, Who while in the flesh was anointed by God to proclaim good news to the poor and liberty to the captives, the recovery of sight to the blind and set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the year of God’s favor and the Day of His vengeance.  We cannot thank You enough for Your comfort when we mourn; for bestowing on us a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.  We know that You have made us the ones who are to be called the oaks of righteousness whom You have planted for the display of Your splendor.  We pray in Your Name that we may be so strengthened by Your Spirit that we are living examples of what it looks like to live as Your disciples in ways that redound to the praise of Your glory and that of our Father by Whom You were sent.  Amen.

If you have a prayer request or a prayer for all of us that we can share for one another, please send it to prayerchain@nbccparker.com.
